I totally went through a mind-f**k yesterday when I went outside!
In Florida, if I see a cloudless sky and a bright sun when I wake up, it’s a beach day. That means a bathing suit, flip flops, and a tank top. Those signs point to a hot and sweaty type of day.
I thought it would work the same in England… I was wrong.
Yesterday I woke up to the most beautiful day I’ve seen since my arrival. I could feel the heat from the sun on my face in my room, for a second I thought I was in Florida. That whole morning I bounced around the house making coffee and breakfast. I got ready to go to campus and couldn’t wait to go outside wearing a T-shirt and shorts. I walked outside…. and someone might as well have punched me in the face! Without a doubt the coldest day I’ve felt since I got here. “Holy shit”, was the only thing I could utter. Me, being my stubborn self, did not go back in to grab a coat or change, I went to campus as I was… and it was miserable. I got there and was talking to a class mate, who gave me a good tip, “Here, the clearer the sky, the colder it is”.
What kind of bass-ackwards world am I living in here where the nicest sunny day I’ve seen means I need to dress in jeans, a sweater, and something to cover my poor scalp!?
Fool me once… today I’m proudly dressed in warm attire after looking out the window to see yet another beautiful clear day!
Some day I’ll understand how this works!
Just read an article about a shark attack in South Africa… I read some of the comments that people were leaving about this case and, after composing myself, I fully intend on making my next blog post revolve around this issue..
